How Easy is It to Fight a Bear With Bare Hands

Absolutely not. Now its possible a man may frighten a grizzly or the bear decides its not worth fighting, but if the bear chooses to actually fight no human no matter how well trained in any fighting style or amount of strength is going to win. Best case scenario a man manages to blind the bear and the bear runs away. Bare handed though no human can punch or kick hard enough to inflict any real damage to the bear. You would break your bones trying to inflict damage to the bear. A 5 year old child vs an nfl lineman doesn't compare to the level of physical mismatch this fight would be.

Only one man can fight a bear with his bare hands and actually win!

No, it only happens in movies. A grizzly bear can never lose unless there's seriously something wrong with him. 1 hit from him is enough to rip your entire chest open, and 1 punch to the face may even be enough to knock your head off completely.

Epic!
Why is everyone talking about punching and kicking? It obviously wouldn't be in the human's favor, but I do think it is possible for a person to kill a bear with their bare (lawl) hands with some luck. Gauging it's eyes, biting, wrestling, etc.

One shot in the face with a shotgun, maybe. One bullet from a handgun won't rip it's face off (though I don't doubt that it could kill the bear if well-placed. But, really, how many people can calmly and accurately aim a handgun under the duress of a bear charging you?)

A bear has immense strenght compared to even The Rock AND has claws. A bear will brush aside your pathetic attempts to wrestle and then slice your face open.

I once ran into a male grizzly while hiking in yellowstone. It was in the backcountry and the forest was relatively thick. I was tired from the hiking that day, and not being loud like I should have been to scare potential bears off. Well, I turned a corner in the forest, and there was a bear about 10 feet away, huge, hulking bear, I'd never been so scared in my life. I'm not a small guy by any means, but this thing was at least 3 times my weight.
He wasn't a threat though. He perked up a bit, startled to see me, and started backing away. I screamed at him and he ran off. I was lucky.
Now, had he attacked me, all I would have had to fend him off were my hiking poles and a short blade. Even with those, I'm 99% sure that he could have easily killed me. Although I'm not a trained fighter, after seeing one in person that close, I don't see how it would be possible.
Of course, it has happened, kind of. A man in Alaska was walking his dog when a canadian black bear came out of nowhere and knocked him down. He rolled over and grabed a large branch and pummeled the bear's face in until the bear was dead. He was pretty messed up though just from the one smack to his face. Had to get reconstructive surgery if I'm right. Canadian black bears are a bit more harsh than the american variety, still nothing compared to a grizzly
You see, grizzley claws are huge. They aren't anything like blackbears (which are relatively harmless...ish). A single swipe can kill a person, and in fact, the face is PROBABLY the best place to get hit, as it's not going to break your skull. But a flesh wound would be make you so injured, that your chances of recovery would be slim.

The Undying
1. Biting: Wouldn't even make it past the fur, let alone the layers of fat.

The guy on the video will end up with his head ripped off his nick one day, I can see it. This trained grizzly dies, he goes out to get a new one and BOOM. No head.
Grizzly bears are awesome, but I wouldn't recommend getting in a 1 on 1 with them.

Grizzly Bears have been known to be shot in the face and still run at a human.

Rich's post seems to beg to differ. Unless it's completely phony, but Rich always seems to always be pretty accurate with things.

No. The bear has a few hundred kilos more, and claws, and a maw full of teeth, stronger bone structure, denser muscle. If you use a tool, that might even it out. But barehanded? No.

A grizzly? Hell no, a slight possibility with a black bear or smaller bear.

Yes, but not for the reason you think.
Bear would lose at hand to hand combat because they don't have hands, they have paws.

I don't think any of you have skinned a grizzly bear and realized how tick their fur, skin, and fat is.

It could be phony but apparently there were witnesses, a few biologists confirmed the bears death too.

The Unstoppable Force
A 70 year old man killed a bear by punching it. So it can happen.
Just not likely.

I can't find any sites that I would make me believe it's true.
